The healthcare sector contains multiple professionals who work simultaneously to ensure that a patient is provided with quality care and proper handling of other key staffing. Interprofessional teams have to work within a specified code of conduct that ensures proper operational and interdisciplinary collaborations (Reeves et al., 2017). Be that as it may, the healthcare sector has to come up with policies that would be beneficial towards the establishment of an environment that accommodating to the interprofessional teams.

Overview of Healthcare Setting

The health care setting in which I am interested in working is the primary care. The primary care section is one of the most essential part of any healthcare setting as it is involved with the treatment and care of multiple issues affecting patients. The primary care sector is also essential as it acts as a first point contact within the healthcare system which can be perceived to be the front door to the facility (Reeves et al., 2017). Additionally, primary care comprises of practices involving community pharmacy, general practice, optometry, and dental services. These aspects of primary care affect the manner in which the organization can improve its overall performance index and meeting the needs of the company. Some of the professionals that operate within the primary care sector include doctors, physicians, and nurses (Sajid, 2019). These professional units work together in accordance with the set standard of operations and collaborative frameworks to ensure the success of the facility.

Issues Within Primary Care Setting

The primary care setting comprises of multiple sections that have to interact to ensure that the needs of the patient are addressed in a detailed manner. The proper understanding of these needs require that the teams have an overall policy the dictates the mode of operations and a clear manner to facilitate proper professional communication. Some of the issues that occur in this setting include workplace conflicts, miscommunication, shortage of professionals, and medication errors (Grant et al., 2017). These issues affect the dynamics of the healthcare setting as it has a direct impact on the outcome of the patients as well as the overall operations of the company. For instance, miscommunication creates discord in care delivery and potential affects the collaboration approaches within the multiple teams. Similarly, medication errors can be fatal to the patients and cause additional cost for the organization. Patients are the main stakeholder that would be affected by these issues and lead to reduced quality in terms of outcome and other key issues of concern.

Healthy Culture to Perform as a Team

The healthcare sector comprises of multiple teams and the use of a healthy culture can improve the operational aspect of the organization. One healthy culture that can be used by the professionals include the employee engagement in regular team building activities that will improve on bonding and understanding the different disciplines. An additional aspect that would form a healthy culture is working in interprofessional teams that are able to share ideas on the best working processes that would be easily understood by all the teams in place (Li et al., 2017). These measures help with the reduction of issues including miscommunication and improves on collaboration of the staff within the institution. Additional attributes that are essential to facilitate the healthy culture of operation include the individual ability of each member to stay focused and uphold high degree of integrity.

Qualities of Effective Communication

The primary care setting of a healthcare facility is based upon the concept of communication. In order for effective communication to be achieved within the facility, there is need for proper models to be used that will improve on the features of the communication. For instance, an effective communication needs to be clear and concise which can be understood by the receiver (Chauhan et al., 2017). Similarly, communication need to be correct, complete, and coherent as it deals with the lives of the patients as well as the overall operational models of the organization. The staff members from each professional discipline have to make use of these measures which would improve on the operational model of the organization and maintain an effective communication structure.

Supporting Collaboration and Communication

As a leader, ensuring that all the teams within the facility are embracing effective communication and collaboration is critical for growth and development. One of the main boundary-spanning activity is the assignment of roles and tasks that require the inputs of multiple teams in terms of preferred mode of treatment to the model of care that will be used to help a patient recover from their current condition. The assignment of the correlated tasks will ensure that the interprofessional teams collaborate with each other and all the other aspects required for proper operations is attained (Ratna, 2019). The other approach that can be used in the capacity of the leader include use of technology that allows different units to communicate with others ion terms of seeking aid r clarity on certain processes and procedures required for a different patient. A nurse can follow up on the information that a doctor provided through seeking clarification or additional information.

Employee Satisfaction and Patient Care

The quality of care within the primary care setting is highly dependent on the satisfaction of the employees. The correlation between the two entities is that the concept of employee satisfaction is directly proportional to the outcome of the patient. For instance, the nursing unit is associated with taking care of the patient until they recover (Watson et al., 2019). Ensuring that the nursing community is satisfied with the nurse to patient ratio is important towards the provision of quality services to the patients and improving their overall outcome.

Role of Health Care Leader

As a leader, I would be responsible for a number of roles within the primary care setting. For instance, one of the roles would be to advocate for the requirements of the nurses and other medical professionals. As a leader, ensuring that there is streamlined mode of operations and there is continuity of processes after a conflict of crisis is one of the major roles that I would facilitate within the institution (Ratna, 2019). Another role that should be ensured to facilitate efficient communication is the creation of effective policies and procedures that will inform on the recommended formats of collaboration and help in determining effective communication among the staff. The aim of these processes would be to improve the working condition of the facility as well as the need for quality patient outcome.

The healthcare sector has to come up with policies that would be beneficial towards the establishment of an environment that accommodating to the interprofessional teams. The different interprofessional teams can ensure that there is a proper model that will facilitate better communication and collaboration strategies. Leaders and the staff should work together to create a conducive culture and operational framework that will improve how the organization responds to issues related to a primary care setting.
