The primary purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of health equity in accordance with the recommendations of the National Academy of Medicine and other components of health.

The recommendation by the National Academy of Medicine 2021 makes reference to the IOM report on the future of nursing published in 2011. The reports focus on the need to improve the nursing profession through education, inclusivity, and leadership. While nurses are at the center stage of offering holistic and patient-centered care, there are challenges and barriers to quality and equitable care. However, the use of self-care strategies can help a nurse manage their time and create a balance between work and personal life including the need to rest and prepare for the next day.
