Choose a theory from your undergraduate education in any discipline. It should be a commonly used theory for the general public such as Maslow, Darwin, Descartes, or others you used in physiology courses, chemistry, business courses, etc. Do not use a nursing theory. Provide the theory in your response. Identify the two concepts and the proposition between them. Explain the concepts. How might the terms used differ from the general use of the term? How might the term be confused or misinterpreted? Format your theory in the form “psychosocial development (Concept A) progresses through (Proposition) stages (Concept B)”.

Expert Answer and Explanation
The selected theoretical model is Darwin theory, and it presents a description of how the species evolve with time. According to this theory, all species have a common origin or ancestry, and the pre-existing species give rise to new ones so that there is constant process of evolution.

The Two Concepts of the Theory and the Proposition between the Concepts
Natural selection and branching descendant are the two main concepts of the theory. According to the former, nature favors people with favorable genetic features, and species are struggling for existence. These two are the propositions of the concept. The latter means species having a common ancestry, and a key proposition linked to this concept is that parents transfer genetic characteristics to their offspring (Lenski, 2017). The respective propositions for the two concepts, therefore, are different.
How the Terms Used Might Differ from the General Use of the Term
There are a number of terminologies used to describe and explain the theory. The common descent is an example of such terms, and it means two organisms having a common ancestor or close relation between two or more species. Gradualism is another terminology used to explain the theory, and based on the Darwinian perspective, it means the gradual evolution of species in steps. (Lenski, 2017). The term also means a change that is not sudden but occurs in steps, and this constitutes the general meaning of the terminology.
How One Might Confuse the Terms
One might confuse the terminologies by interpreting the meanings in a way that contradict the real meanings of the theory. Using the general terms to describe the theory may cause a situation in which one fails to effectively understand the theory.
