Opportunities and Risks for Evidence Dissemination

Health care practitioners have various options when it comes to choosing a dissemination strategy for the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and personally, I would prefer to use the social media as well as create and distribute program materials in pamphlets. The reason for selecting the two strategies stems from their individual benefits. For instance, almost every health care practitioner has a social media account, and this strategy therefore, provides a wider reach. It also offers the advantage of portability of the information because the providers can access EBP information on their mobile communication devices (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2018). The use of pamphlets also make it possible for the clinicians to carry the evidence, and just like the social media strategy, it provides a platform where providers can refer EBP details.

For the providers, the print media is important in the sense that it provides them with the platform where they can refer EBP ideas in case they are not sure. For this reason, I feel that the dissemination strategy in which they discuss EBP information on the local radio may present problems in the sense that it denies them the opportunity to have a solid or a tangible evidence. Another disadvantage linked to this strategy is that it makes it difficult for providers to interrogate the evidence, and this is because of the lack of the print information (Melnyk et al., 2017).

However, it is worth noting that the social media and pamphlets as the strategies for disseminating information may not be fully reliable. The social media may only work as long as one’s device has power and internet, and any interruption in the power supply and the internet can hamper the goals of dissemination. Conversely, some health care workers may find carrying the pamphlets cumbersome a challenge.
